Coronavirus Updates, Schedules and Plans

As information and guidance regarding COVID-19 unfolds over the coming days and weeks we will keep this page up to date with information, resources, spring schedules and more. We're monitoring and working closely with local government officials and ACPS.

The ASA office is currently closed. Please don't hesitate to reach out via email with any questions — each program's contact is listed below.

Please note — Public parks and fields in Alexandria are CLOSED. Individual workouts should be done at home.

We have a realistic understanding that the spring seasons across all programming will likely be cancelled. With that in mind, please bear with us as we take every variable into consideration. Governor Northam has mandated a “stay at home order” through June 10th with the option to move this date earlier if deemed safe. Based on the possibility to return safely to the field, ASA leadership is holding off on officially cancelling programming.

Cancelling in April would eliminate any possibility of hosting meaningful programming in May and June. We will consider the viability of modified spring programming up until the first week of May. Should governing bodies, including US Youth Soccer, make no adjustment to their current guidance by May 4th, ASA will cancel all programming through June 10 and look ahead to preparing to support our community in Summer programs.

Program Specific Updates:

🔹Academy — Academy practices are postponed until May 1. We'll be releasing training videos during this time (see below!) and ASA staff will be in contact about an amended practice schedule (if applicable) when we return to programming. Contact jennie@alexandria-soccer.org with questions.

🔹Adult League — The Adult League start date is postponed. The league director will update participants accordingly once the amended schedule is finalized. Email peja@alexandria-soccer.org with questions.

🔹Alexandria Growth Program — Currently, the AGP program is postponed. We will be in touch with an amended schedule once we have a return date. Email grigor.boychev@alexandria-soccer.org with questions.

🔹ASA Reds — Tryouts for Reds, ASA's new professional level adult soccer team, have been postponed. Once programming resumes we will be in touch with updated tryout dates. In the meantime, registration for tryouts is OPEN. Read more about this exciting new initiative here! Email will.hanna@alexandria-soccer.org with questions.

🔹Pre-Season & In-Season Ball Mastery —The remaining four sessions of Pre-Season Ball Mastery are cancelled. Coach Grigor will reach out with further information. In-season Ball Mastery is postponed. Email grigor.boychev@alexandria-soccer.org with questions.

🔹Recreational League — The Rec season is currently paused. There are several contingency plans in place to adjust the calendar as needed once we know more about this unfolding situation. Once we have a clear understanding of what the Rec schedule will look like this spring we'll be in touch with more information about uniform pick up and more.

The Suburban Friendship League has cancelled the Spring season (this applys to 7th-12th graders). ASA is working on an abbreviated in-house schedule with plans to keep our SFL age players active and safe when it is appropriate to return. Once we have more information and an understanding of whether we can create a small in-house league this spring, we will determine a refund or credit policy in line with the amended schedule.

Email Peter at pkallin@alexandria-soccer.org with questions.

🔹Spring Break Camp & Teacher Workday Camp — The Spring Break camp is cancelled along with the April 13 Teacher Workday Camp. Families who had registered will be contacted by the Camp Director. Email Ben at ben@alexandria-soccer.org with questions.

🔹Tots — Session 1 of Tots is cancelled. The program director will be in touch about rolling your registration over to Session 2 or 3. Please email tots@alexandria-soccer.org if you have questions.

Planning Ahead:

ASA is actively working to develop amended schedules for spring programs while following the lead of the Alexandria City Health Department alongside RPCA and ACPS planning. We plan to update program participants with more information regarding the season structure as soon as possible. Once we have more information in place regarding spring schedules we will determine a refund policy in line with the amended schedule. During this time we will not be issuing refunds or reviewing refund requests.
