ASA FALL/SPRING RECREATION SOCCER LEAGUE
Single season registration for the SPRING recreation soccer league is now open!
PLEASE NOTE: If you registered for the full year of soccer in the fall (2 seasons), you do NOT need to re-register for the spring season.
For Fall 2013/ Spring 2014, children born on or before July 31, 2009 are eligible to play. Early registration opens on November 1 for the spring recreational league. The spring soccer season lasts for eight weeks from March through May.
Please note: If you registered for the full year of soccer in the fall, you do not need to re-register for the spring season. ASA will send emails to those who do not need to register and to those who have registered for FALL ONLY in the fall (will need to register again in the spring). You can also check your family’s account with us online to verify that you registered for the full year or fall only. If you still are unsure and would like to verify, please call or email the ASA office.
How to register:
PLAYER FEES for SPRING 2014 (includes $10 city field fee):
If you are unsure of your player’s age-group, please refer to the AGE GROUP CHART.
U5-U12 = $100 early registration fee (until February 21, then $120 until March 14)
U13-U19 = $110 early registration fee (until February 21, then $130 until March 14)
PROOF OF AGE (REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW PLAYERS):
Please submit a copy of the player’s birth certificate or passport along with the registration form (preferrably at time of registration). If you register online, you must mail, fax or email the birth certificate before the registration is considered complete. If the birth certificate is not received in the office by 3/14/2014 the registration will be incomplete and the player will not be assigned to a team.
NON-RESIDENT FEE (City of Alexandria mandated fee):
This additional fee of $25 per season must be paid by families living in zipcodes other than 22301, 22302, 22304, 22305, 22311, 22312, 22313 and 22314. In addition, a few addresses within these listed zipcodes are in Fairfax County, not Alexandria City, and those families are also required to pay the additional non-resident fee of $25.00 per season.
A uniform is required to play in any U5-U12 ASA game and may be purchased at the ASA office during office hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm. You may order and pay for any uniform items online or on the registration form and then visit the office to pick up your ordered uniform. Sizes can be changed at that time. Shin guards are mandatory at practice and games for ALL age groups.
You may also pay for registration and later visit the office to purchase uniform items. Either way you will have to visit the ASA office to claim your uniform items. If you are unable to visit the office for pick-up, please call the office and other arrangements can be made. Uniforms should be picked up in the season in which they are ordered. ASA will NOT deliver uniform items to practice or games for any reason.
SFL players (U13-U19) order uniforms through their coaches and should NOT purchase uniform items at the time of registration.
If you wish to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach, please do so as you complete your player’s on-line registration. At that time please also complete the Kidsafe form for a background check. Soccer playing or coaching experience is NOT required to coach a team. If you register by mail, please contact or visit the ASA office to complete a Kidsafe form.
Each team must have a head coach and an assistant coach. Each age group (Example, under-8 girls) will have a coordinator. Each fall season, a new coordinator is needed for the newly formed U5 and U7 age-groups.

Please note that this is a much larger commitment than coaching a team, but ASA is always looking for qualified and organized individuals to fill these important roles within the club and help our soccer seasons run smoothly.

A complete registration includes
1. A filled out REGISTRATION FORM (on-line or paper copy)
2. A copy of BIRTH CERTIFICATE (new players only) and
3. PAYMENT (on-line credit card or in-person/mail-in check, cash or money order).
Complete registrations are due to the office (NOT post-marked) by 3/14/2014.
Make all checks payable to ASA. Returned checks will be charged a $25.00 NSF fee.
The ASA office is located at 1108 Jefferson St. in the Lee Center. We are on the first floor, first hallway on the left, first office on the left. Deliver forms here, or mail to: ASA, PO Box 25996, Alexandria, VA 22313. Please DO NOT mail registrations to the Lee Center address; they will not reach us. Also, please DO NOT turn your child’s form in to the office at their school. Though ASA regularly distributes flyers through the school systems, ASA does not task these schools with collecting registrations.
Financial aid is confidential and available for both registration and uniform fees. Our aid program is based on the same criteria as the Alexandria City Public School (ACPS) Free Lunch Program. A copy of your player’s enrollment in the lunch program is required for aid consideration.
Please note that registrants applying for financial aid may complete their household information online, but submit a printed Registration Form, birth certificate or passport, and payment directly to the office. The online registration is not able to process financial aid.
Once the player’s ACPS Free Lunch program enrollment letter is received in the office, the price to play soccer is as follows (includes $10 city field fee):
U5-U12 Single Season: $50
U13-U19 SFL Single Season: $60
