Coach

Raghuram Vijayan

Coach Raghuram started playing soccer at the age of five years old in an AYSO Rec program. He moved to India at the age of ten, where he joined the Varsity Team at the age of 13 and became one of the youngest players on the team. He also joined the I-league Academy Team at this time.

Raghuram had the opportunity for a trial in Germany and went to France to try out for a local club. He realized he had a love for coaching when he would make formations and try to form tactics when he was a student in school. Coaching at ASA, Raghuram has worked with successful Junior Academy teams and assisted with ASA Reds NPSL team which won the mid-Atlantic trophy. He was also part of the team for George Mason University Men's Soccer which won the regular season.

Raghuram enjoys coaching because it keeps him on his feet, and it is like a game of chess which keeps you thinking constantly for the next move. Additionally, he looks forward to helping kids becoming better players, improving every day, which can not only help them with skills in soccer, but also with skills that they can take with them in the future.

In his free time he enjoys studying several different certifications, reading, playing pick-up games, working out, and working towards "C" license, and Opposition Analysis Certification.
