Bridging Rec League and Academy Programs

DA focuses on individual and small-group development activities designed to improve technical ability, decision-making, and understanding of the game while introducing players to the training methods, activities, and expectations used throughout our Academy program.

Development Academy

3rd — 6th grade

Development Academy (DA) bridges the experience between Recreational League and Academy soccer for 3rd–6th grade players. DA is designed for players interested in pursuing Academy soccer in the future, as well as players looking for an additional training and game opportunity within a structured environment led by professional coaches.

The program introduces players to the training methods, activities, and expectations used throughout our Academy pathway, helping them develop technical ability, decision-making, and understanding of the game while experiencing an Academy-style environment.
All DA coaches either hold or are actively pursuing US Soccer Coaching Licensure.

DA Program Summary & Cost

Registration fees cover one season (fall or spring) of the Development Academy (DA). Training sessions take place on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. Players registering for one training session per week may select their preferred training day.

Players are placed onto teams that will train and compete together throughout the season under the guidance of an ASA professional coach. We make every effort to accommodate friend requests whenever possible.

Development Academy serves as a bridge within the Alexandria Soccer training pathway, introducing players to the methodology, activities, and expectations used throughout our Academy program while providing a challenging and supportive developmental environment.

Program includes:

ASA age-appropriate curriculum and developmental philosophy taught from day one
Academy-style training environment led by professional coaches
Saturday league games in our rec league playing in MCL divisions when available.
Training and games on premium grass and turf fields
One or two training sessions per week

Prices:

Single Training Pathway – $400
One training session per week + games included
Double Training Pathway – $580
Two training sessions per week + games included
Training Only Pathway – $220
One training session per week, games not included

Training Items

Training uniform: Light Blue DA shirt, Black Shorts, Black Socks. Other equipment: Size 4 ball, ideally pumped to at least 7 PSI; Shin guards; Water bottle.

Uniform Details

Participants are required to purchase a DA jersey. DA jerseys can be purchased in the ASA office (1108 Jefferson St).

TeamSnap

All families will have access to TeamSnap for their child’s respective team. TeamSnap is our main organizational tool and includes a detailed team schedule of practices and games, the ability to mark availability so that coaches can plan practices, and a chat feature to get in touch with coaches or other families for help.
