Emily Whalen

Emily has been passionate about soccer her entire life, playing from early childhood through high school. She began in a local Rec program, then progressed to travel teams, and by middle school, was competing at the premier level. For much of her journey, her dad was her coach, and even after she advanced to premier, he continued to support her team when needed. His dedication and involvement deeply inspired Emily’s own desire to become a coach.

Today, Emily is especially passionate about teaching players not just how to play the game, but why certain decisions and strategies matter, helping them understand the game on a deeper level. She coached in the ASA Rec League for three seasons and is now stepping into a new role as an assistant Academy coach.

Outside of soccer, Emily is a certified Power Yoga instructor and enjoys leading hot yoga classes. She also serves on the Dick Whalen Scholarship Committee for the North American Sand Soccer Championships (NASSC), a tournament held in Virginia Beach and founded by her late grandfather. Professionally, she works in retail real estate at Rappaport, specializing in both landlord and tenant representation.
