Grigor Boychev

Coach Grigor was VYSA's State Coach of the Year in 2015 and Alexandria Soccer Coach of the Year in 2014. In 2019 Grigor's 2007 Boys Red Team won the Region 1 Championship!

Grigor's favorite soccer memory from growing up in Bulgaria was going to watch his favorite team play. "The atmosphere in the stadium and the support from the fans made every minute really exciting and unforgettable! The explosion of emotions, flares and songs after my team scored is still in my head and I will never forget it." Grigor's favorite soccer player is Francesco Totti. Totti played for Roma for 25 years and Grigor thinks he had a brilliant first touch, second touch, was good at finishing and a true leader of his team who never gave up, never complained and instead, took over the games.

When he's not coaching Grigor enjoys spending time with his daughter, fishing, hiking, camping and helping in the garden. When asked what his dream job would be, Grigor said, "My Mom keeps reminding me that my dream growing up was to be a soccer player and although I didn't play much at the pro level I am working now in the soccer industry. Both she and I agree that I have fulfilled my dream job. I can retire doing what I am doing and my passion for soccer will never die! I love our community. It is special to me and it is a pleasure to work for it!"
