Share a little bit about your ASA “career.” What programs did you participate in growing up (Rec, Academy, Assistant Coach, Camps, etc).
Throughout my time at ASA I participated in a ton of programs and was a part of many teams! I started off on the Blue team when I first joined the Academy program and worked my way up to the MLS Next team. Additionally, I played on my age group’s top futsal team and coached Summer Camps throughout high school. I have a lot of great memories from these teams such as going to California for MLS Next Fest, New Jersey for Futsal Regionals and a State Cup final.

Where did you go to college (if applicable) and what degree did you earn (or are working towards)? Tell us a little bit about what you do now (still in school, job, traveling, etc).
I am currently a Senior at James Madison University or JMU, and am earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science. When I’m not in class I am either working at our campus recreation center or out with my friends.
Are you still involved with playing or coaching soccer / futsal? Tell us about it!
While in college I was a member of the JMU Men’s club soccer team which was a great experience. It was a nice way to bridge the gap from a competition standpoint between Intramural level soccer and our Division 1 team.

Did your time at ASA make an impact on your journey after high school graduation? What do you remember most about playing soccer growing up?
ASA definitely made an impact on me as a person even after going onto college. The club gave me lots of opportunities to grow and I learned about myself as a person a lot through soccer. I learned how to be successful on a team because of soccer and even now some of my old teammates are my closest friends.
Do you have one piece of advice for high school students who are choosing colleges or getting ready to graduate?
My piece of advice for those picking schools would be to take risks and try something new. This is a time in your life where you have the freedom to experiment so if there is a school that really excites you and pushes you out of your comfort zone go for it!

Thanks Brent! Good luck as you wrap up your senior year of college. You’re always welcome to come back and coach for us in the future! 🙂
