Chris Arnold

Deputy Director, Academy & Futsal

As Deputy Director, Chris is responsible for strategic oversight of all Academy and Futsal programming at ASA. He oversees program managers for both the Academy and Futsal programs and leads them in developing strategy that aims to provide high quality programming, improve policies and procedures each season, train coaches effectively, and ensure a “Gold Standard” experience for all participants. Chris focuses his planning by using ASA’s club wide outcomes—improving the health and wellness of each participant and contributing to a thriving Alexandria—as a lens and framework for decision making.

Since joining the ASA team in 2011 Chris has coached in and worked across almost all ASA programs. His experiences overseeing many of ASA’s early programs gives him unique knowledge and perspectives to help grow and oversee two of ASA's most comprehensive programs. The Academy program provides over 250 hours of active programming to 1100 kids, ages 8-19, annually. The Futsal program includes supplementary training activities, Futsal ID and one of the largest futsal leagues in the United States, offering both recreational and travel divisions.

Prior to working at ASA, Chris worked in the front office for DC United. In 2010, he worked at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa as a Transportation and Logistics Manager. "On the ground" skills he learned during the fast paced experience in South Africa prepared him well for challenges, opportunities and creative endeavors that arise day to day at ASA. Chris earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he played on and captained the NCAA Division 1 Men's Team. Chris currently holds his USSF "B" Coaching License and National Youth License. In 2020 he was named CCL Coach of the Year and honored as an Alexandria Chamber of Commerce 40 under 40 recipient.

When not on the soccer field or futsal court Chris enjoys working in his garden and traveling with his wife, Liz! He also spends a decent amount of time bantering about Premier League Fantasy Soccer with his extended family and friends (if you have tips to help him defeat his teenage nephews please reach out) and loves traveling to his hometown of New Orleans to enjoy good music and food whenever possible.
