Alumni Spotlight: Caitlin Bucceri

Share a little bit about your ASA “career.” What programs did you particpate in growing up (Rec, Academy, Assistant Coach, Camps, etc)

I have played for ASA for almost my entire life, starting in the Rec League and continuing through the Academy outdoor and futsal programs as I grew as a player. Along the way, I also volunteered as an Assistant Coach and worked at Camp Alex and Futsal Ball Mastery. ASA has been a consistently positive and fun community for me, and I’ve made countless friends and teammates through the program.

Where did you go to college (if applicable) and what degree did you earn (or are working towards)? Tell us a little bit about what you do now (still in school, job, traveling, etc).

I attended Bucknell University and recently graduated in May 2025 receiving my BS in Civil Engineering. I currently work at Hazen and Sawyer, an engineering consulting firm providing services in drinking water, wastewater, and water resources projects.

Are you still involved with playing or coaching soccer / futsal? Tell us about it!

I recently moved back to Alexandria and became involved again by joining the Women’s Futsal Team. This is my first year returning to play, and it has been great reconnecting with the local soccer community while staying competitive. I’m really enjoying the technical and dynamic nature of futsal and the opportunity to continue developing my skills. I look forward to growing with the team and pursuing future opportunities to compete and stay involved in the sport.

Did your time at ASA make an impact on your journey after graduation? What do you remember most about playing soccer growing up?

My time at ASA had a meaningful impact on my journey after graduation. Through ASA, I not only had the opportunity to play a sport I loved, but I also built lifelong friendships and learned important values such as teamwork, commitment, and resilience. Because of the positive soccer experience I had at ASA growing up, I continued playing at the collegiate level, participating in both club soccer and futsal during college. Some of my favorite memories from playing soccer in my youth are the shared experiences with teammates, practices, games, tournaments, and the strong sense of belonging that came with being part of a team. Those relationships and lessons have stayed with me well beyond my playing years and continue to influence how I approach new challenges and opportunities.

Do you have one piece of advice for high school students who are choosing colleges or getting ready to graduate?

My advice would be to explore the many levels of competition available and find what truly feels right for you. College is about more than just soccer, so it’s important to choose a place where you can balance academics, athletics, and social life. Staying involved in the sport you love while also allowing yourself time to grow, meet new people, and enjoy the overall college experience makes the transition after high school much more rewarding.
