Selection & Evaluation Criteria

If selected for a position, Counselors and CITs will be evaluated on the following aspects for continued staffing opportunities. Previous and current performance as well as coach recommendations will be taken into consideration:

  • Camp spirit and enthusiasm
  • Personal appearance (camp shirt and attire)
  • Care of camp property
  • Personal initiative
  • Ability to work with other staff members
  • Ability to engage with campers
  • Adherence to time schedule
  • Work ethic
  • Positive role model
  • Ability to solve problems

Application & Availability

Subject to safety regulations Virginia health guidelines. Staffing will be fluid based on camper registrations and past/present performance. Due to sheer numbers of applicant and our enhanced coach-counselor-camper ratios, not all will be selected.

Counselor in Training

The Counselor in Training position is an unpaid volunteer position for Recreational and Academy players ages 13-15 years old (birth years 2008—2006). Selected CIT’s will assist with set up and breakdown of camp equipment as well as help coaches and counselors supervise and maintain a safe and fun environment for campers ages 5-12 at our Recreational Day Camps. Players must work as a CIT before transitioning to a paid counselor position.

Camp Counselor & Coach

These are paid positions for Academy Coaches and ASA Academy players (counselors). Selected Coaches and Counselors will teach within ASA curriculum, assist with set up and breakdown of camp equipment, supervise and maintain a safe and fun environment for Recreational Camp ALEX/Soccer (5-12 year olds) and Advanced (7-14 years old) Soccer Campers at our Day/Evening Camps/Ball Mastery Programming.
