Coach Mike has a million soccer memories from growing up but he considers being exposed to the game when he was seven years old, as his favorite. He had moved to a new town and his parents signed him up for something that was foreign to them and new to him!
Fabio Cannavaro is Mike's favorite soccer player because he was a short center back who relied on game awareness and positioning to be effective at his job (much like Mike!).
When he's not coaching Mike can be found hanging with his dog, taking the lad for walks and playing with him in his free time. Mike walked on to the Men's varsity college soccer team at Maryland and before deciding to play club soccer (which was a high level with a little less commitment). Playing club soccer allowed Mike to be a student supporter of the Men's varsity team and being there for the 2005 national championship is one of his most favorite experiences ever. A season ticket holder to this day, he hasn't missed a game since and has made friendships for life because of his involvement in the program and supporters' section. Since 2017, he has coached soccer full time.
