Celebrating 50 Years of ASA: Golden Gala

Leading up to the Golden Gala—ASA’s 50th Anniversary celebration on March 26, 2022—we are sharing interesting historical facts about the history of ASA. Check in each week to learn about the history of the club, what the early years looked like, who was involved and much more! [Here are the first weeks in case you missed them; Programs, Safe Places to Play, Access4All, Rec League, Org Structure, ASA Branding, Tournaments].

We are celebrating 50 years of ASA at the Golden Gala on March 26th! You may be wondering… what is the Golden Gala?! Should I attend? (YES, you should). Read on for a bit more information about the event.

What is the Golden Gala? What are we celebrating?

The Golden Gala is an adults-only event celebrating 50 years of ASA. Since 1970 ASA has provided soccer programming to children in our community and we’re excited to recognize the hard work and volunteer support that helped get us here! The Golden Gala is an opportunity to look back on the past 50 years and to share exciting new plans for the future. Money raised during the evening supports ASA’s Community Fund, helping to ensure access to soccer for every child who wants to play. In 2021 ASA provided over $500,000 of scholarship support and free programming to kids in Alexandria.

We can’t wait to celebrate with ASA staff, coaches, community members, parents, volunteers (past and present) and more! Tickets to the event include heavy hor d’oeuvres, an open bar, photo booth fun, an online auction, and more! There will be a short presentation featuring special guests and exciting information for the future of ASA.

Join us at the gala to learn more about what’s going on in these photos!

How does the online auction work?

The online auction (you can view items by clicking “continue browsing” ) will open for bidding on March 11th and close at 10pm on March 26th (the evening of the gala). We highly encourage you to register so that you can bid easily leading up to the gala and throughout the evening. Everything takes place online. Once you bid on an item you will get a text alert when someone outbids you and notifications about the auction closing and more. [We will also give some in-person reminders the night of the event]. If you can’t join us for the gala you can still bid on and win auction items.

We want to point out two specialty items.

  1. We are raffling a Teqball Lite table! Raffle tickets are $20 each or six tickets for $100.
  2. There are several “buy now” options. These options include two and four sets of tickets to join ASA in a field level suite at a DC United game. These will be available to purchase when the auction site opens on March 11.

Ok I’m IN, where do I purchase a ticket to the Golden Gala?!

RIGHT HERE!

My company would like to sponsor the event, is that possible?
